Relax on a morning narrated journey through scenic cypress swamp and wetlands and view several plantations along the old river road. Enjoy an early morning tour of romantic Laura, a Creole plantation, Laura is a Top Louisiana Attraction winner and probably the best known touring plantation other than Oak Alley. Its tour centers on plantation life and the four women who ran Laura for nearly a century. Afterward, experience a treasure of the old south with a late morning tour of the Oak Alley antebellum mansion. After picture taking, a famous mint julip or a quick bite to eat, we return through infamous and beautiful Manchac, the Haunted swamp.
Have a delicious New Orleans style lunch at a great Cajun restaurant. After lunch, take a two hour tour of swamp Manchac on a hauntingly strange historic bayou boatride. You'll view the crosses of graves of the Great West Indies Storm of 1915 rising from the depths of the swamp on a lazy gator infested swamp bayou.. And if thats not enough to unnerve you, the locals say its haunted. We return you to your hotel before 5 p.m hopefully in one piece.
TOUR OPERATOR NOTES
We take the Old River Road route that allows you to see all 7 plantations between Evergreen and Oak Alley. . Other companies take the interstate route where you'll miss several plantations.
The food served on this tour is delicious and not the average fare you've come to expect from other tour companies. On Mondays however, we serve traditional NewOrleans style poboys before the swamp tour.
The story of Haunted Swamp is absolutely true and well documented.
